Question:
I'm looking for any sample business
plans. For starters, I don't
expect to spend more than a couple
hours per week at this business(very
very small business). Therefore,
I don't expect to make any money
for the first several months, but
I would like it to be an "official"
business.
If anyone has sample
business
plans,
especially for a services type business,
I'd love to see them. I have
Word 7.0, so if there in Microsoft
Word format, that's OK.
Answer:
Instead of looking at sample
business
plans,
you might want to get The Computer
Consultant's Workbook by Janet Ruhl
(available at Amazon.com). The real
reason for doing a business
plan is not to have a nice looking
plan on paper, but to have a plan
of action for your business
activities. The business
plan needs to answer a number of
questions like: "Who will be
my customers? How will they find
out about me? What service will
I sell to each one? How much will
I charge for these services? How
will I deal with people who don't
pay right away? How many hours of
service to I need to sell each week
at that price to pay my bills?"
The point is that you will have
to face these questions sometime
during the course of your business.
If you have thought about them before
hand, you might have a better chance
of surviving the process than when
in the middle of a project and the
client decides not to pay any more
or starters,
I Get with the Small Business
Administration and their Small Business
Development center. They will take
you through your plan step by step,
and when you are done, you will
have a very good grasp on the subject.
No or nearly no cost, but your time.
I think when I went there it cost
me a dollar for some paper
