Question:
have a MICS running 4.1 and a NAM
8 running 4.0, I have 3 LS CI cards
in there trying to setup outbound
transfer ("if you need to speak
to me right now, please press 7
and you will be connected to my
Cell Phone), when the caller presses
7, the system grabs a line and even
sends the DTMFs but after like 3
seconds the system drops the line
and the caller hears "The Line
or Line Pool is not properly configured",
and the caller is returned to the
greeting.

Answer:
You need to assign a line pool to
the mailboxes for dialing out. While
I have never used this feature,
I believe the NAM is expecting a
'1' for Line Pool 'A,' not a '9.'
I am not sure, but you might
need to assign a Line Pool to the
DNs that the VM is using, but that
might not be necessary. Just a second
thing to do if the first is not
enough. Maybe someone ese can add
more
How do you know it picks up a line?
You would need to attach a buttset
to the line to really hear all the
dtmf's. Are you using link transfer
or setting up a conference call
in the norstar? Do you have sufficient
channels enabled for outbound transfer
(2 minimum out dial for conference).
Are you using a line, or a pool
to outbnd xfer, and do you have
sufficient lines in the pool? Does
your class of service on the particular
Mailbox allow outbound transfer?
One test if these don't help-
set up the outbound
transfer to go to an extension instead
of a phone number- see if that works.
I actually did attach a butset,
I also set line number 8 to be supervised,
(that's the last line in pool A
which it kept grabbing), I'm not
using link transfer (which is used
- I guess - in Centrex) but am trying
to set up a conference as far as
channels, I have set aside 2 channels
for outbound, the only think that
I'm thinking of is that all the
lines involved have to be supervised
because otherwise who will release
those lines?, I will try that tomorrow
and let you know.
another think that I tried was placing
a internal call to the extension
then when then the VM answered I
pressed 7 and the call went through
just fine, what I'm thinking is
that when the VM is getting ready
to drop the lines to be conferenced
together Norstar will not allow
it if both of them aren't supervised,
now that I'm writing this it makes
a lot of sense to me.
