Plan Drawings Interior Design |
Question:
I need to draw floor and wall plans
or other diagrams to scale. I have
windows xp home and have downloaded
office 2000. Is the a way of doing
this on windows? If there is I can't
find it! If not is there an update,
or download that would enable me to
make simple drawings to scale? (PS
I am interested in interior design,
which is how the problem arose.
Answer:
I'm afraid you will not find any drawing
facility in XP or MS Office that will
allow you to do what you want. There
are several programs out there that
will give you some functionality in
that area. I'm afraid I can't offer
any recommendations on them though.
I use AutoCAD and that is not a casual
users program.
Windows is an operating system,
and Office is a business
productivity suite. Neither
one was ever intended, or designed,
to be used as a computer-aided drafting
application. If you want to
design
buildings, purchase and install an
application designed for that purpose.
Microsoft sells Visio, which
can do what you want, but it also
does many other types of diagramming,
so it may not be your best choice.
Your local CompUSA, OfficeMax,
Staples, Office Depot, etc., probably
all carry home design
applications.
