| Telstra Mobile Call Conference - Now Free But... |
Question:
On my phone (Nokia 6110) it doesn't
work with my personal SIM, which is
5 years old. However, it works
fine using the same phone with my
employer's less aged SIM.
Mobilenet customer service can't help
and has lodged a technical fault report
that won't be actioned for at least
a week. It took 5 calls before
an operator offered to do this for
me.
Apparently the console operators now
have no "option" to activate
or de- activate conference
calling.
It should be active for all
services, so they say.
Where's the problem likely to be?
Network or SIM programming?
I think the phone is OK.
It doesn't work with my U Prepaid
(now Communic8) service either. When
checking, I also noticed another problem
with the U Sim. If I call party
A, place them on hold, then call party
B, the call to party B gets dropped
as soon as party B answers. Is
this a limitation of the Prepaid service?
(However, if I receive a call
from Party A, place A on hold then
call B I can connect to B and also
swap between callers. Similarly, if
A and B both call me I can connect
to both and also swap between callers.
I can't set up a 3-way Conference
in either situation though.)
Conference
Calling
works fine on my "Top Up"
CDMA phone. That's nice.
Answer:
the problem would lay in the network,
i.e. the features on your account
don't allow 3 way calling.
Should be a 2 second fix when the
fault finds it way to a technical
person in Cust. Care.
There is normally is 2 types of "features"
in the system for this, one allows
call waiting and the other 3 way or
conference
calling,
you need both of them to do "hold
on a minute so and so is calling
i'll hook him in" type calls.
The U prepaid sounds like there is
call waiting but no 3 way calling!
