| Sample Business Plans |
Question:
I'm looking for any sample business
plans. For starters, I don't
expect to spend more than a couple
hours per week at this business(very
very small business). Therefore,
I don't expect to make any money for
the first several months, but I would
like it to be an "official"
business.
If anyone has sample
business
plans,
especially for a services type business,
I'd love to see them.
Answer:
Instead of looking at sample
business
plans,
you might want to get The Computer
Consultant's Workbook by Janet Ruhl
(available at Amazon.com). The real
reason for doing a business
plan is not to have a nice looking
plan on paper, but to have a plan
of action for your business
activities. The business
plan needs to answer a number of questions
like: "Who will be my customers?
How will they find out about me? What
service will I sell to each one? How
much will I charge for these services?
How will I deal with people who don't
pay right away? How many hours of
service to I need to sell each week
at that price to pay my bills?"
The point is that you will have to
face these questions sometime during
the course of your business.
If you have thought about them before
hand, you might have a better chance
of surviving the process than when
in the middle of a project and the
client decides not to pay any more
the person asks about sample
business
plans,
and you provided a link but that's
all you ever seem to provide when
there's a question
of business,
marketing or other plan in this and
other newsgroups.
I can understand you wanting to sell
your "planning software",
but rather than just always reply
with your standard link response,
why don't you try "contributing"
once in a while. After all, isn't
this newsgroup about helping each
other or is it just a place to promote
when the opportunity presents itself?
-Extensive advice about business
planning, finance, management &
enterprise -Planning shareware, on-line
financial planner, planning software
store Hmm, "extensive advice
about business
planning" Maybe on your site,
but even a bit of advice would be
welcome, don't you think? Others,
not selling planning software seem
to be able to do so.
Sorry to be so direct, but it's meant
for others as well. I follow this
and other moderated newsgroups to
read ideas and learn from others,
and if I can contribute, will do so.
If I want to just look messages of
links, I can do that in the newsgroups
that aren't moderated.
